Communication:
Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Excellent drafting ability.

Client Orientation:
Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients ” and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view. Establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect. Identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions. Monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems. Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects. Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.


Education:

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, or related fields. A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.


Work Experience:

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience required in the areas of budgeting, financial management, and accounts including experience in programme budget preparation, performance reporting, producing reports and papers on technical issues, and reviewing and editing the work of others. Experience in the UN system is highly desirable. Proficiency in MS Office programs, and IMIS Finance and its reporting facility desirable. Familiarity with Internet applications and other special packages and software for database management desirable.


Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage.

Assessment Method:

Eligible candidates will be requested to undergo written knowledge-based assessment exercises, which will be followed by a competency-based interview depending on the result of the test.


Special Notice:

Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
