Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible legal experience in the legal office of an international organization or a Government; in a law firm; or in a non-governmental organization is required. Such legal experience shall include experience in at least two of the following three areas: (I) litigation in a national jurisdiction, (II) working in another national jurisdiction (outside the applicant's own country of nationality), and (III) working with an international court or tribunal.


Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the post advertised, fluency in English (both oral and in written) is required. Knowledge of other official UN languages is an advantage.


United Nations Considerations

The United Nations shall place no restrictions on the eligibility of men and women to participate in any capacity and under conditions of equality in its principal and subsidiary organs. (Charter of the United Nations - Chapter 3, article 8). The United Nations Secretariat is a non-smoking environment.

Competency-based interview and/or other assessment method.
