Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Technical expertise:
- Good knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear materials, preferably obtained in the design, operation or regulation of nuclear fuel cycle facilities;
- Thorough knowledge of international nuclear materials safeguards concepts, policies, practices and technology.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to understand complex problems and to draw appropriate conclusions.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team to achieve stated objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise reports and policy statements and to make effective presentations.
- Management skills: Ability to develop and manage technical programmes and to lead and motivate teams in an international environment.
- Ability to take the initiative and make appropriate decisions.


Education, Experience and Language Skills

- Advanced university (or equivalent) degree in engineering, physical science, mathematics, or other nuclear related disciplines.
- At least 10 years of working experience in the nuclear field, preferably including experience in systems analysis, applying safeguards policies, and developing and evaluating nuclear safeguards concepts and methods.
- Experience in organizing and conducting working groups and Technical Meetings.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) desirable.


NOTE: The incumbent of the post will be considered to be a radiation worker and be subject to an appropriate programme of physical and special medical surveillance arranged by the IAEA.


Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $80 629 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $52 570*, dependency benefits, diplomatic status, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave, pension plan and health insurance. * Subject to change without notice
