Summary:
Often regarded as a merely individual process, learning have a direct impact on social and civic spheres, supporting therefore, community development. Through outdoor experiential learning methodology, the course will develop competences enabling participants to plan, organise, implement and assess learning processes, in view of self and community development on the frames of Civic and Human Rights.
Target group:
Project managers, Trainers, Young people, Youth leaders, Youth workers.
For participants from:
Bulgaria, Estonia, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain.
Group size: 15 participants.

How will we work:
The methodology of the training course is conceived in ways that require active participation and exchange between participants. It is based on participants’ own experiences and builds on concrete actions for the future. The methodology of the training programme is
based on the main principles of experiential learning cycle and non-formal education. The programme is designed to be implemented by using the potential of outdoor experiential learning. This methodology bringing strong insights to self and community learning, specially developing sense of initiative, entrepreneurship and Social and civic competences. All sessions will allocate spaces for personal and group reflection and evaluation of the learning process which enables participants to further become owners and responsible of their learning by fostering learning to learn and self-directed learning. The training course will be fully implemented in English.
Profile of the participants:
The Training Course is designed for a diverse group of 15 young people with fewer opportunities such as young people from rural areas, unemployed youth, young people from linguistic and ethnic minorities. Participants should be ready for an intercultural experience and interested in developing strategies supporting learning development aiming at fostering civic and human rights. Attending participants should be willing to become agents of change in their organisations and communities. Participants will be selected by the preparatory team according to their Application form. The selection will ensure to have a group with organisational and geographical diversity and gender balance.
Our Objectives are:
• To promote Human Rights Education and Intercultural dialogue as a pre-requisite for the development of a "culture of peace" and as a contribution to democratic stability;
• To provide youth organisations and youth leaders with knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to further strength their role in the building of civil society;
• To empower youth organisations, in particular working with the most vulnerable groups to develop projects, strategies and activities to address racism, xenophobia, discrimination and gender-based forms of violence affecting them and their community;
• To promote and support lifelong learning and non formal education as useful tools to achieve these goals;
• To provide consultancy to nongovernmental organisations and educational institutions working with young people and to support the development of value based projects.
Deadline and Application procedure:
All candidates must apply using the enclosed application form. Applications should be sent not later than 29th May 2011! by E-mail. The preparatory team will select 15 participants on the basis of the profile outlined above and ensuring a balanced group (gender, geographical regions, different types of experiences, cultural backgrounds and organisations). A waiting list may be established.
By the end of May, all candidates will be informed about whether their application has been accepted or rejected, and if they have put on the waiting list. Selected candidates will receive the course documentation and further technical and educational information directly from the organisers.
Costs:
The 70 % of travel expenses are reimbursed (on presentation of the relevant receipts). Participants must choose the cheapest travel option. The organisation only reimburses public transport costs. Only the participants who attend the entire training course can be reimbursed.
Accommodation
Board and lodging for the duration of the Training Course will be provided and paid for by the Organisers.
Enrolment fee:
An enrolment fee of 35€ is payable by each participant. This amount will be deducted from the amount to be reimbursed for travel expenses or paid at the beginning of the TC.
