Details:
At the present time, most of young people, even those who are more concerned about environmental issues, do not have a deep knowledge about the European legislative process, namely in what an environmental directive is concerned. For that reason it is of most importance to understand the EU decision making process and how it affects the environmental policies at national and local levels. As so, the youngsters from our organization have developed this project in a "learning by doing" perspective to engage other young people in exchanging experiences and knowledge sharing activities as a way to empower them with the necessary tools to a conscious and critical European citizenship. Starting from non-formal education techniques, this project aims to simulate the entire EU legislative process: from the creation of an environmental directive until it enters into force. In four months, with one preparatory meeting in Lisbon and a final meeting in Brussels - where the simulation games will take place - this project will bring the co-decision process to live. There will be place to visit, not only European Union institutions but also some practical examples of how companies adopt European Legislation. We expect that at the end of this route, young people can be able to understand how the European institutions work and how to engage themselves critically in the EU decision making process in order to voice their environmental concerns.
