Hrant Dink Foundation, Galata Fotografhanesi, Free Press Unlimited and Youth Initiative Centre of Gyumri are jointly organising a Multimedia Project Promoting Dialogue with the financial support of the Netherlands Consulate General and the British Embassy.
The Project aims at establishing direct communication between photojournalists and photographers from Armenia and Turkey and enabling them to think collectively to promote dialogue between the two countries by making joint multimedia productions which is popular, both in Armenia and Turkey.
The project will welcome 10 participants, 5 from Turkey, 5 from Armenia with prior experience in documentary photography/photojournalism. Participants will meet in Istanbul twice for two separate workshops and will do field visits to work on their productions. During the project 5 multimedia documentaries will be produced on 5 topics inspired from various themes which might include daily life in border towns, unemployment, environment, common music tradition, cuisine, literature (Mount Ararat in Turkish and Armenian literature) and gender issues amongst others. The final decision on the topics will be made by participants themselves.
The resulting multimedia productions will be broadcasted by local and national TV channels both in Turkey and Armenia. The final productions will also be sent to international documentary film festivals.
We hope that the cooperation of participants will continue beyond the scope and duration of the project in different ways including the possible creation of blogs.
PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS
The workshop is meant for young photo journalists/photographers from Turkey and Armenia between the age of 20-35 who are socially engaged and who already have a certain level of technical know-how.
Participants are expected to show commitment to take part three full weeks in all phases of the project.
Participants are expected to bring along their own camera which is able to do video recording.
Participants are expected to have intermediary level English to ensure communication in the group and in the field work.
