Details:
The workshop is supported by the LLP Progrme of the European Union (Ref.Nr. 2011-1-FI1-GRU13-06146). Participants can apply for a grant covering participation in all workshop activities, travel and subsistence costs.
For whom:
Are you 18 years or older European citizen? Are you interested in crafts? Do you want to learn a new skill and create products for your home? You can be a student, senior citizen, unemployed, at work etc.
Main activities / programme of the workshop:
Willow weaving is taught at the Artisan Institute. The participants will collect the willow from nature and they will use it to make the products. All equipment needed is provided by Artisan Institute.
06/05/2012: Arrival.
07/05/2012:Getting to know Toholampi and Artisan Insitute. Presentation of the programme and each other.
Collecting the material, willow, in the nature. Peeling.
08/05/2012: Making a bowl with basic weaving technique.
09/05/2012: Basic technique to create a round hanging basket. Visit to craft centre.
10/05/2012: Polish bread basket with Tatza-technique.
11/05/2012: Basket on plywoodbase. Feedback. Visit to Pajamäki tradition centre; diplomas, dinner.
12/05/2012: Departure
Travels:
Artisan Institute will pay for the travel tickets. The nearest airport is in Kokkola (about 85 km from Toholampi) and the nearest railway station is in Kannus (about 25 km from Toholampi). Transportation from airport or railway station is organized to Toholampi by minibuses.
Accommodation:
The accommodation is in Countryhotel Hirvikoski. The hotel is about 25 km from Toholampi centre; the transportation is arranged by minibuses
The accommodation includes breakfast and dinner.
The lunch is served in local lunch restaurant in the centre of Toholampi. The participants will also get coffee or tea in the afternoons.
