“Non- Formal Learning Dialogue: Practice meets research” - seminar from 20th - 25th of November 2011 – “Metsäkartano” - Rautavaara, Finland.
The seminar aims for increasing competence in combining non-formal education practice and research, to further assist the recognition and the improvement of quality in the field of non-formal education.
The objectives of the seminar are to:
• Explore methodologies of research in learning process and learning outcomes, which could potentially fit the principles and nature of Non-Formal Education;
• Develop critical thinking of practitioners towards various research methodologies;
• Increase awareness of the added value provided by research towards the non-formal learning;
• Explore cost effective ways to incorporate research with non formal learning processes;
• Provide space for discussing the usage of the applied research in the NFL processes.
The seminar is organized by UNIQUE’s Finnish partner Ushanga ry. and takes place from 20th - 25th of November 2011, in “Metsäkartano” - Rautavaara, Finland, bringing together 26 participants, NFE practitioners and researchers from European countries.
Call for research expertise:
In order to reach our seminar objectives, UNIQUE network is now searching for experts willing and able to provide workshops on:
• How to measure learning in the non-formal education setting;
• How to adapt research methodology to the principles of non-formal education;
• How to teach to both, practitioners and researchers these methodologies.
The selected expert workshops will be discussed with the seminar facilitator’s team in the preparation process and combined to the seminar program flow on the on 22nd and 23rd of November to support the learning processes of participants.
Criteria of workshops:
• Up to 3 hours;
• Interactive, allowing participants to learn the basics of research methodology / approach in a practical way.
Financial aspects:
The selected experts - travel costs will be reimbursed 100% and they will be awarded with 300,00 - fee for their workshop.
Applying
Deadline for applying is the the 20th of September 2011. The selection of experts will be made by the members of unique by 1st of October. To apply to the call please send your:
• Detailed CV;
• The concept of the foreseen workshop;
• A brief description of the introduced research methodology.
The selection of the experts will be made by members of UNIQUE network, and announced by 1st of October 2011.
