"II Edition of Comic Contest"

Europe Direct Centre in Cáceres is pleased to announce "MOVE FOR EUROPE" competition. This year is celebrated "II Edition of Comic Contest":

II COMIC CONTEST 2011

“MOVILIZATE POR EUROPA”

1. The contest is open to all those people between 12 and 18, inclusive, regardless of their nationality or place of residence. A project may be submitted by a single author or several authors to be considered co-authors.

2. The subject should be written in Spanish and have a link or relationship with Europe as a background, as a pretext ... The issues guidelines to take into account are the European Commission Communication Priorities for 2011:

- Future of the European Union and its fundamental values;
- The economic and social recovery;
- Climate change and sustainable Europe;
- Putting the citizen first;
- Europe as world partner;
- Active European Citizenship: participation and democracy in Europe.

3. Each comic will be submitted necessarily not signed and appear in them only the title of the work and the motto of the author. To each comic, there will be attached a sealed envelope which will contain, in its interior, the personal data of the author (name, ID number, address and phone number), and in its exterior part there will be written the title of the work and the author’s slogan. This envelope will be further used to identify the winners of the contest.

4. Papers must be original, with a minimum length of two pages and a maximum of six, black and white or colour, dimensions DIN A-4 and free technique.

5. The following mention should appear on the outside part: "II COMIC COMPETITION EUROPE DIRECT 2011" and the work may be submitted personally or sent by mail to the following address:
- Europe Direct Centre, Building Valhondo, Avda University s/n 10003. Cáceres

6. The submission deadline for the comics is November 15.


7. The jury will be appointed by the Europe Direct Centre Cáceres, and it will be composed by people competent in the area. Once established the winning comics of the contest, the jury will proceed to the authors’ identification, by opening the sealed envelopes marked with the corresponding titles and mottos.

8. The best three comics will be awarded, as follows:

- First prize: 400 euros
- Second prize: 300 euros
- Third prize: 200 euros


9. Also, there will be a series of comics that will be declared finalists and published.

10. Any comic may be withheld, if the jury decides that it doesn’t comply terms and conditions required in the contest. Any issue not covered in these rules will be solved by the jury. The jury will be announced through the media and communicated to the winners.

11. The winning and finalist comics will be exhibited in a place and at a date to be determined. There will be also a publication containing them, which will mention also the authors.


12. The finalist winning authors will cession the copyright on their work arts to Europe Direct, without asking any financial compensation in return. Their comics will belong after the contest to the Europe Direct Cáceres. The other comics can be picked-up by the authors from the same centre. The authors who can not pick up their comics can send a stamped envelope with their name and address to Centre, and their works will be sent to them by mail.

13. Participating in the contest implies the acceptance of all the rules aforementioned and of all the decisions taken by the jury.
