Summary:
ATOQ is a training course to increase quality within youth exchanges. An international group of youth workers will look back to past experience, focus on quality aspects and improve management competences in order to raise quality in future exchanges.
Target group: Youth workers, Youth leaders.
For participants from: Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom, Belgium - FL, Slovak Republic, Pre-Accession Countries.
Group size: 37 participants.

What is ‘ATOQ’:
ATOQ is a training course which has been developed to increase quality within youth exchanges. During 5 days, an international group of youth workers will look back to their past experience, focus on quality aspects and improve their management competences in order to improve quality for their future youth exchanges. The quality aspect which will form the pillars of this course are off course the same as the very well know features of the youth in action program. ATOQ is a training course which has been run since 2004.
Aim:
To support experienced youth workers/leaders in increasing the quality of the European youth exchanges they set up within the Youth in Action Program.
Objectives:
The ATOQ training course will provide the participants with opportunities to:
1. Critically reflect upon their previous international youth exchange experience and the impact on young people;
2. Increase the understanding of different quality aspects of youth exchanges such as: active participation of young people , involvement of promoters and stakeholders, diversity and intercultural learning, European dimension and citizenship;
3. Experience a non-formal learning process and understand its importance in youth exchanges;
4. Improve their project management competences ( knowledge, skills and attitudes) in order to better organize the different phases of a youth exchange.
Methods used:
Groups work, discussions, statement exercise, lectures, simulation exercise, individual and groups reflections, self-assessment model, interactive workshops and participative presentations, consultations, exercises, etc.
Profile participants:
This training course is open for voluntary and professional youth workers, working directly with young people, that organised and/or participated as a team-member in at least one international youth exchange (which is completed) and plan to organise another within the frame of the Youth in Action program. Participants should be at least 18 years old.
Good to know:
During the training, several methods are used which involve participants in an active way. Participants will be challenged to criticaly reflect on their past organised Youth exchange(s) and how to improve future exchanges. An open attitude of the participants is expected.
Costs:
This project is financed by the Youth in Action Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the NAs involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from call to call and country to country. Please contact your NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
