You are one of the volunteers of the participating countries in EVS and you have the opportunity to become an active European citizen. We want through this project to achieve two important goals in training future responsible citizens involved, through an EVS stage.
Volunteers profile
We would like to receive volunteers who are strongly motivated to perform volunteering activities during their EVS stage, who are willing to learn the Romanian language , to adapt, to change and to work in a multicultural environment. It is also important that these young people would like to study at least one of the following topics: economics, communication, political science or any other themes having a similar profile. In addition they should meet some of these qualities: punctuality, reliability, good English skills, they should be communicative, able to speak and make themselves understood by a group of people.
EVS volunteers will develop the followings topics:
• The concept of democracy;
• Human rights;
• The theory of public debate;
• The civic participation in the process of decision making;
• Mediation and negotiation;
• Leadership and entrepreneurship.
Our project proposes two important objectives:
Objective 1:
The development of not only individual skills but also of new ones of 6 young people from different countries, which will be the beneficiaries of a voluntary placement in Romania in order to promote democratic values and principles on which the EU is built.
The activities proposed to achieve this goal:
• the approach of some established themes which will be included in 6 modules consisting of general knowledge about participatory democracy, human rights, theory of debate, learning how to influence the public decisions, mediation and negociation, ledearship and entrepreneurship;
• the initiation and the performance of volunteering projects in rural communities and in Roma communities,with the participation of both young EVS volunteers as well as of the young people with fewer opportunities;
• debates between young people in clubs for Democracy established by the Pro Democracy Association in high schools from Braila that have signed partnership agreements;
• celebrating together events in the life of each volunteer: ex. birthday;
• making additional material and information dissemination : European Young Involved Guide through which the EVS volunteers will become aware of the need to involve young people in solving their problems in a friendly community and the benefit of all.
Objective 2:
Increase awareness and membership of young sters in Braila city and in other rural communities (Ianca, Maxineni, Insuratei,Faurei),from Braila region, who make part both from the majority population and from the Roma minority, regarding the rights and obligations of an active citizen of the European Union.
The activities proposed to achieve this goal:
• Organizing debates in democracy clubs already established and the establishment of new ones in at least two localities in addressing urban issues from what the EVS volunteers have learned during their training, about Youth in Action, European Voluntary Service, the rights and duties of the European citizenship, European solutions on local problems; the democracy clubs will also work and activate after project's completion;
• organizing information campaigns in schools ( high schools) or during the participation at public events of TIA's Program and of Action 2 : EVS;
