ALTRE NOTIZIE:
Saint Nicholas Association is searching for partners for a exchange project Youth4Youth.
APV: 1st – 3rd of December 2011 , 2 participants.
Exchange: 1st – 8th of February 2012, 6 + 1 participants.
Summary of the project:
After a research made on a sample of 5000 young people by association on the subject concerning: “ Youth and their Role in Community Development” resulted that only 1% of the subjects questioned are actively involved in decision making, raising their opinions on important issues facing their local community. Thus our NGO aims to produce new ways or tools in order to activate young people to take a stand in community development, to emphasize the importance of civic education (by formal or non-formal means, the latter being taken into account for this project) and the relevance of European citizenship to young people in small communities. Over the course of these seven months during which our project gets implemented, we aim to organize the exchange of several young people from our partner-organizations with 24 participants from 5 countries over a period of 8 days, the exchange will take place in the city of Sannicolau-Mare. This program’s objectives aim to help the participating young volunteers realize that there are many advantages and social benefits of an active involvement in their communities, to create tools that offer support for an active involvement of young citizens in the community, offering examples of an active citizenship, an indivisible partnership between the young generation and the community in which they live in. Non-formal civic education, active and communitarian citizenship are the main focus-points this project concerns.
The project’s objectives are:
1. To raise the percentage of awareness among young people of the advantages of an active involvement in the community to at least 15%.
2. To create for these 15% aware young citizens both from our city and our partner’s support tools and resources for an active involvement.
3. To promote, through meaningful ways and methods relevant to the subject (the young participants themselves), the idea and importance of self-awareness in a social and local-community context.
4. To foster a form of non-formal civic education for young, active and upcoming citizens of the European Union.
The actual results of the project will be:
• An exposition with panels at the end of the youth exchange;
• Support-material;
• Documentary movie/Power point presentation;
• A more active participation of youngsters in the decision-making process within their community;
• Young citizens aware of their civic rights, responsibilities and duties;
• A platform for raising awareness with regards to European citizenship and civic education, building the premises for future projects and trainings.
