Summary:
Young Volunteers in Sport is an expert meeting for national/regional organisations who wants to stimulate the involvement of youngsters as volunteers in sport. Sharing knowlegde, experience, creating ideas and find solutions for reaching out from national/regional level down to local level. Important subjects during the expert meeting will be how to support local organisations (as a national/regional organisation) by working with youth as volunteers in sport.How to involve youth as volunteers in sport on a local level. And to stimulate cooperation between European organisations who are working with young volunteers and sport.
Target group:
Youth workers, national/regional organisations who are working in the field of sport and volunteering.
For participants from: Youth in Action Programme Countries.
Group size: 20 participants.

Aims of the meeting
One of the aims is sharing knowledge, experience and creating ideas about how to stimulate youngsters and youth workers (and other professionals or volunteers working with youth.) The second, but as important, aim is to find solutions for the challenge of reaching out to professionals and youth from national level down to local level.
Objectives
The main objectives of the expert meeting are:
• How to support local organisations (as a national organisation) by working with youth as volunteers in sports?
• How to engage young volunteers?
• How to involve youth as volunteers in sports on local level?
• To stimulate cooperation between European organisations who work with young volunteers and sport.
Themes to be discussed are:
• How to make use of the specific motivations of youngsters;
• Special focus on youngsters who are not easily found as volunteers;
• The use of youth marketing to present organisations and their activities more attractive.
Results
At the end of the expert meeting the result will be:
- a set of examples of successful projects;
- a set of good principles about how to involve youth as volunteers;
- a set of recommendations for national/regional organisation about how to reach out to local professionals and youth.
Programme
The following activities are part of the programme:
- working sessions;
- inspiration session;
- a site visit to a successful project;
- sports/physcal activities;
- Intercultural encounter.
For whom?
The meeting offers place for maximum 20 persons from 10 different organisations from 10 European countries.
At least two participants from each country:
• One professional of a national/regional organisation dealing with the challenge to implement projects on local level.
• One young professional or student (Youth (sport) worker, 18-25 year old) who directly works with youth and likes to learn more about involving youth in the organisation of sports.
By whom?
NISB initiates and organizes this expert meeting together with the Dutch National Agency of the Youth in Action Programme. The National Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF) and MOVISIE, the Netherlands centre for social development, will be involved with the composition of the programme and will bring in knowledge, experience and their European network.
Costs:
Board, lodging and programme costs will be provided and paid for by the Dutch National Agency. The travel cost will be paid by the National Agency that will sent you. In some cases National Agencies ask for a participants contribution. Check your National Agency.
