Description:
This course is designed to give underrepresented youth including socio-economic, politically-repressed or discriminated individuals, including immigrants and young adults on the verge of exclusion the tools and opportunities for self-empowerment and to re-create themselves through writing and publishing. We promote a space for mutual respect with a focus on the development of Human Rights. In alignment with developing Human Rights Education, we believe in the importance and necessity of actively participating in democratic life. We believe writing is involvement, writing is participation, writing is movement. As a concrete measure, participants will learn about decision-making systems and have the chance to meet with decision-makers. Participants will be inspired to express their viewpoints and ideas on what they discover about these structures through discussion and their writing. Trainers and facilitators working towards developing Human Rights education who would like to learn more methods through writing are also encouraged to participate!The resulting texts will be published on a website, announced by the involved organisation and sent to policy-makers.
Goal:
• To promote respect and understanding for human dignity, non-violence and non-discrimination;
• to encourage young people to actively participate in democratic life in the local, regional or national or at an international level;
• to provide and promote a community of practice that gives a voice;
• to underrepresented people of diverse backgrounds and heritages and promotes Human Rights;
• to give a platform in publishing and creating an online writer's presence.
The methodology that will be used is designed as a cooperative learning space on the principles of Non-Formal Education and the Humanistic approach to learning and training.
