Summary:
"Youth and Democracy for Active Participation" is a TC that aims at equipping youth workers and leaders with tools to encourage active participation of young people, especially in the democratic processes of their local communities, countries and Europe.
Target group: Youth workers, Youth leaders, Youth Policy Makers.
For participants from: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Slovak Republic, Spain.
Group size: 35 participants

The training course, with 7 activity days, is designed for those active in working with young people and it will take place in Nitra, Slovakia. “Youth and Democracy for Active Participation” wants to give an answer to the need of an effective strategy for young people to learn and experience more about Human Rights Education and Education for Democratic Citizenship. The main themes of the project are Democracy, and awareness of young people about how they can be active in democratic societies, bringing positive change to their communities and to Europe. This TC is built to improve the work of non-formal education in the field of education for democracy and active participation. The methods used during the course will be various, such as debates, round tables, simulations, presentations, creative workshops, brainstorming, and will be completed by the adding of some theoretical inputs.
The main objectives of “Youth and Democracy for Active Participation” are:
• To develop a better understanding of the concepts of democracy, citizenship and participation;
• To foster active youth participation, helping young people to become agents of positive change in their society and in Europe;
• To support young people in being aware of their rights, duties, and role in the present and future of Europe;
• Give youth workers useful tools that can help in making youngsters have a better understanding of democratic processes;
• To empower cooperation and networking between youth NGOs in Europe.
Costs:
The 70% of the travel costs will be reimbursed, and the 100% of board and lodging costs will be covered by the Youth in Action Programme.
