Summary: This training will support youth participation in international activities in the Nordic countries. Newcomers to international youth work are welcome to join the training and learn how to start international youth exchanges in their own organisation.
Target group: Youth workers, Youth leaders, young people 14-17.
For participants from: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden.
Group size: 30 participants
Details:
The training is targeted for youth workers and their young people who have not any experience in Youth in Action or Erasmus+ youth exchanges or whose experience is very low. Training gives an opportunity to learn how youth exchanges are planned and carried out and what is young people's role in them.
Aims and objectives
The aim is to plan youth exchange projects that can be applied during 2015.
The objectives of the training are:
• to understand the opportunities available for international youth activities offered Erasmus+ Youth in Action and to be aware of the support available for project building;
• to understand what is good quality in international youth exchanges and learn good working ways for international projects;
• to plan future youth exchange projects and create a strategy for international youth work that highlights young people's active participation in it.
Participant profile
We are looking for motivated participants, who are willing to start youth activities in the Nordics and who already have an interested group of young people behind them. We invite motivated teams from Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland to join the training. A team involves an adult youth worker who will bring along a young person, who is approximately 14-17 years old.
• Youth workers can represent municipalities, church youth work or NGOs and they can be professional or voluntary.
• The young person is selected by the project group who is willing to carry out a youth exchange in the future.
Motivation
The group and their representatives will commit to do a small preparatory exercise before the training and a couple of more tasks after the training. The team take with them the motivation, interest and plans of their group and have the mandate to present it to other participants. Both of the participants are willing and able to take part for the whole of the training from the beginning to the end with the rest of the group.
About the training
The training will be lead by two Nordic trainers: Marie Svensson from Sweden and Annina Kurki from Finland. The training is also open for the representatives of the Nordic National Agencies and participants have a good opportunity to meet with a National Agency on the spot. The training will be held in English, but Scandinavian languages may help too. Perfect English is not needed, just courage to work with the skills you have!
Costs:
Participation in the training, accommodation, meals and travel costs will be covered by the participating national agencies according to their national rules. Some countries may charge a small participation fee, otherwise the costs are covered. Ask how your country deals with the covering of costs by asking the person responsible in your country.
Working language: English.

SCADENZA: 31st of January 2015.
