Your Europe your Say!

Data: 09/01/2015

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is proud to launch its sixth annual "Your Europe, Your Say" event. Aimed at young people aged 16-17, it will take place in Brussels from 23 to 25 April 2015.

We are inviting pupils in the penultimate year of secondary school in the 28 Member States of the European Union to come to Brussels for an unforgettable experience. This event will enable students to find out about Europe and gain an understanding of the decision-making process and the EESC's role within the European Union. It will also be a rare opportunity for them to debate a specific subject in a multicultural environment: to put forward arguments, negotiate and find a compromise.

We, acting as a bridge between civil society and the EU institutions, and the pupils, as stakeholders in EU policy, will have the opportunity to work together to come up with ideas for workshops or local events to help spread the word about the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) in Europe. Above and beyond working on this challenging opportunity, students will be able to discuss many other subjects, talk with other pupils from a whole range of backgrounds, discover new cultures and return home with a lot of memories.

We warmly invite you to encourage secondary education establishments to register or, if you are a teacher or head teacher in such an establishment, to directly register via our website for this exciting project.

The deadline is 12 January 2015 (midday Brussels time).

On our website you will find a description of the event, the electronic registration form, the rules and all the practical arrangements:

To give you a better idea of what is involved, a video of last year's workshop is available

We are looking forward to welcoming the young "members" to Brussels and to passing on to them our passion for Europe.

We would therefore ask you to be so kind as to distribute this information as widely as possible so that all the pupils in the penultimate year of secondary education in your country will have an opportunity to participate in "Your Europe, Your Say".
