Aim:
To support quality of youth work in Estonia & Latvia and to stimulate learning processes in non-formal learning settings for all involved people by exploring and experimenting with methods and approaches of self-reflection and analysis based on the Youthpass concept. In a long-term perspective pilot project which is intended to lead to the reflection on how Youthpass could be adapted to become a valuable tool of recognition of learning in a national youth work context.
So, how do we want to reach this overall aim?
• We invite 20+20 enthusiastic open-minded youth workers from Estonia and Latvia to start with a one year "travel" to raise awareness of learning in youth work (e.g. on how do you work with young people, how do you facilitate their learning processes, how do you see your role as a facilitator of learning).
• Together, we are going to explore notions of learning and its potential on youth work activities, ways of planning and designing learning process, ways on how to make the learning outcomes of the young people visible, how to describe them and through this recognise them – individually and to over ways to do this for wider purpose.
• We would like to explore possibilities and challenges of the Youthpass process and Youthpass as a recognition tool for the national youth work context. A wonderful team of competent & supportive trainers will guide participants to an actual experiment - that they try out implementing Youthpass with at least one young person (preferably more) of their own target group. Mentorship & national training activities are planned for support.
• We would like to use this experience in Estonia and Latvia not only to learn & experiment together, but also to think more about youth work as a learning context. We want to explore how we can support the youth work field better in raising quality and being recognised better?
NB! The experiment will be documented through ongoing research and also disseminated at international level (international seminar in March 2016 open for wider target group and other countries than just Estonia & Latvia).
The whole Level Up! adventure is planned for the period of May 2015 - March 2016 and
1. it starts with a common kick-off seminar in Estonia (27-30 May 2015), where the Estonian, the Latvian and SALTO T&C RC colleagues will meet to set the common ground
2. it will be followed up by 3 different national 2 days trainings (in June, September and November 2015)
3. during summer and autumn 2015 participants get supported to actually practice their learning with your young people, so, it's time for their own practice/experiment projects
4. after evaluating and concluding process & results we would like to share and spread results of this long-term programme with an international seminar in March 2016.
