“Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home- so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any map of the world” Eleanor Roosevelt. These words, said by the President of the Commission in charge of preparing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, perfectly summarize what these rights are: they are our everyday life! They have an impact on every aspect of our lives, they constitute our personal universe, but we rarely know it. Perhaps because human rights sound more like a “label”. But far from being a label, human rights constitute a whole, necessary to the development of human beings. Still, these rights have to be respected, defended, and known! This is what this training is about: knowing these rights and make them known. Human Rights Education is a method; a process permitting to enhance knowledge and skills, as well as it promotes attitudes and behaviors, in order to foster and support human rights. Aware of the effectiveness of this method in the development of a universal culture of human rights, the International Institute for Human Rights and Peace (2idhp) decided to organize regularly this type of training, making it one if
the main axis of its action.
