Details:
Roma rights are violated every day in Europe. The European Union’s Fundamental Rights Agency concluded that the Roma are the most discriminated against group in the EU: “Every second Roma respondent said that they were discriminated against on the basis of their ethnicity”. The activity will equip participants with specific methodology Living Library. The context of the real situation on the ground with the Roma people in different EU counties will be addressed in a creative way. The main aim of this TC is to raise awareness of and enable dialogue about discrimination and Antigypsyism that lead to social exclusion of Roma young people.
To reach the general aim of the TC, the objectives are:
• To develop the skills of youth leaders and multipliers to apply Living Library as non-formal educational method in their work with young people based;
• To raise the awareness of discrimination and Antigypsyism and their negative consequences to Roma young people that led them to social exclusion;
• To exchange and share realities about the marginalization and social exclusion faced by Roma young people from different European countries;
• To promote tolerance and respect for human rights.
Methodology
The methodology is based on NFE methods: using manuals such as COMPASS(new edition),T-Kit-Social Inclusion etc. groups work, brainstorming, wall writing, association game, discussion, fish bowl, debate, case studies, drama, role playing, simulation, audio visual techniques and Living Library method. The purpose of the Living Library is enabling short, intensive and facilitated contact between Readers and Books. In the case of our exchange first of all the readers and book will be the participants among themselves, and one day, they will be the books and the readers will be the local community. The project gives a high priority to youth participation from the preparatory to the evaluation process, in particular that the participants can shape the program based on their own needs and interests.
Costs:
The hosting organization will cover full board and lodging costs, and travel costs, after providing original invoices, tickets, boarding passes. Participation fee: 20 €. Max travel grant per participant in Euro 360.00 € - Estonia, France 275.00 € - Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, UK 180.00€ - Greece.
