Summary of the project
The project is a four day training that works on methods in non-formal historical and political education in Germany, Greece and Poland. Multipliers will edit and develop methods for their daily work with young people. Methods, multipliers already use within their work will be reflected on from an entangled historical approach (histoire croisée). The basis for the contextual work will be the exhibition "Courage and Reconciliation". The aim of the training is to critically reflect upon historical education and investigating it from multiple perspectives rather than from a national point of view. Entangled history means analysing historical facts from different points of view, which aims to overcome simple and unilateral explanations and in the long run helps strengthen the process of social reconciliation. This way of teaching history becomes important not only on a bi-national or European level but also in regard of the complexity of contemporary societies that are shaped by people of different national, religious, social and cultural backgrounds. The project’s outcome will be an online handbook containing all selected methods as well as QR codes that present information regarding Polish-German and German-Greek history from an entangled historical approach. Methods and QR codes will be published on an internet blog that serves as a platform for an ongoing exchange and networking.
