Details:
The project was designed to be able to bring value to the participants and to ensure they have support to develop themselves as facilitators, having special focus on practice, learning by doing it.
The main objectives are:
• Develop essential facilitation skills like planning, debriefing, group dynamics, session design, feedback;
• Train and improve youth facilitators’ competences through self-reflection and feedback from peers and trainers;
• Develop or improve personal facilitation style;
• Practice, practice, practice, what you know, what you learned and what you want to learn;
In the first training course, in France (22nd to 30th of June), the participants learnt basic methods and techniques to be able to work as facilitators. The flow of the training starts with the definition of facilitation and grows to the things that are needed by a facilitator: to plan a session, design and create, use creativity, lead a group, fast thinking, evaluate and debrief and finnaly practice, having the feedback of other participants and trainers on how it went, what to improve and what to maintain.
The second workshop in Portugal (12th to 18th of November) will provide more advanced skills and strenghten essential competences of future facilitators. In particular the participants will improve their skills in: planning a session, designing and creating, using creativity, leading a group, fast thinking, evaluating and debriefing and finnaly practice, having the feedback of other participants and trainers on how it went, what to improve and what to maintain.
The specific objectives of the training in Portugal are:
• To further develop teamwork competencies and skills, through the practice of decision-making, active communication and feedback
• To exchange good practices among the team and participants;
• To raise awareness of group dynamics and the different roles within groups;
• To raise awareness of the intercultural dimension of international youth activities and international teamwork;
• Create a guidebook with tools, methods and main topics needed to design, implement and evaluate activities: a guidebook for facilitators.
The group of participants in the workshops is composed of 23 future facilitators. The whole group participated in the first training course in France. For the second training course in Portugal we still need to find 3 people to complete the group (1 Lithuanian and 2 French), since 3 participants won't be able to join this second workshop. Three new participants are highly welcome, they will bring richness to the workshop in Portugal thanks to their new ideas and experience and they will have a chance to exchange knowledge in an international environment under the supervision of experienced trainers.
