Target group: Youth workers, Staff members of closed institutions and NGO members working in closed institutions on regular bases/at least weekly.
For participants from: Youth in Action Programme countries.
Group size: 25 participants
Details:
Activity aims at giving opportunity for staff members of closed institutions (detention services, prisons, refugee camps etc.) to exchange experience in working with young people and explore role of non- formal learning* there.
Activity has following objectives:
• To provide space for participants to share local realities and good practices working with young people in closed institutions (such as detention services, prisons, refugee camps etc.);
• To give an opportunity to define the role and place for non-formal learning in closed institutions;
• To have an insight into Erasmus+ programme and explore how it can support organisations to implement non- formal learning projects and programmes with young people in closed institutions.
Profile of participants:
• Staff members of closed institutions (social workers, psychologists, project coordinators, youth workers, etc.);
• NGO members working in closed institutions on regular bases/at least weekly.
• Can communicate in English.
It is planned to have a balanced group with representatives from various types of closed institutions.
Working methods: Exchange of experience, working groups, presentations of good examples, meeting project members from Latvia (please find program attached). Participants will have to arrive on February 24 midday and depart on February 27 any time.
* Non formal learning is purposive but voluntary learning that takes place in a diverse range of environments and situations for which teaching/training and learning is not necessarily their sole or main activity. These environments and situations may be temporary, and the activities or courses that take place may be staffed by professional learning facilitators (such as youth trainers) or by volunteers (such as youth leaders). The activities and courses are planned, but are seldom structured by conventional rhythms or curriculum subjects. They usually address specific target groups, but rarely document or assess learning outcomes or achievements in conventionally visible ways.
Costs:
This project is financed by the Erasmus+ Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the NAs or SALTO involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from call to call and country to country. Please contact your NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
