Summary: Young people at risk of social exclusion live very often in unhealthy environments. These conditions affect the self-development process of the youngsters. What can we do as youth workers? This training course aims to provide some tools to answer to it.
Target group: Youth workers, Youth leaders, Project managers, Youth Policy Makers, EVS mentors/tutors, social workers, educators, teachers.
For participants from: Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Turkey.
Group size: 27 participants
Details:
Young people at risk of social exclusion live very often in unhealthy environments: families with problems, low education, economical disadvantaged situations, marginalized groups etc. These conditions affect the self-development process of the youngsters: low self-esteem, low self-efficacy, poor social relations, a lack of learning to learn competence usually lead to different dysfunctional behaviors. What can we do as youth workers? How can we support their wellbeing? How can we make social exclusion visible in the society?
Objectives
• to promote an open and creative training environment for non-formal learning;
• to support participants in getting familiar with the concept of resilience and empowerment;
• to improve participants’ competences in supporting empowering process with young people;
• to support participants in mastering new empowerment and resilience tool;
• to learn how to use a concrete tool as photo-voice to involve the community in this issue of social inclusion and make it visible (photo-voice is a Participatory action and research method by which people create and discuss photographs as a means of catalyzing personal and community change);
• to promote the exchange of good practices and the network in the social area.
After the training
We pay a lot of attention do visibility and dissemination in this training. For this reason participants need to commit to organise a small event in the 3 months after the training, using the pictures taken during the photo-voice session.
Selection
The selection will be done immediately after and the results will be sent by email by the 13th of December. To confirm the participation, the selected participants have 10 days during which they have to buy the flight ticket. Only the flight tickets will be considered as the official confirmation of the participation.
Costs:
Accommodation and food are fully covered by the project. We are searching 3 participants from each country. The travel costs will be fully reimbursed until the limit fixed by the distance band calculator (in this case, it is 275€ for all countries, but Italy). For the italian participants who live up to 100km from Padova there is no reimbursement. For the one who lives further (from 100 to 499 Km) there is a reimbursement up to 180€). If participants exceed these limits, the exceeding part will have to be financed by the participants themselves. There is a participation fee from 40 to 80 euros. Each participant will decide how much to pay within this range according to the personal situation. Participation fee will be paied in cash during the training course.
