Details:
In this training we will focus on three crucial aspects of experiential education: trainer, group and program. We will also explore one´s opportunities of employment as a trainer.
1. Trainer
Personality of the trainer is one of the key elements of successful training. Trainer is opening the door.
Everything matters: look, hair, clothes, energy, experience, preparation, plan, sensitivity, openness, empathy..
Areas in which we are going to explore the element of Trainer are:
• roles | what roles can trainer adopt, what does role mean etc.;
• competences |what are the possible skills you as a trainer can develop;
• trainer´s style | different styles, acknowledging one’s own style, ability to switch among styles etc.
2. Group
When three people meet, they form a group. More people make it more complex. Behavioural and psychological processes within a social group – group dynamics - are unique; no two groups are the same. Still, there are common aspects we can consider when creating learning programs.
We will focus on particular aspects of group dynamics – group goal, power, rules and norms, subgroups, leadership and followership.
We will experience actual group processes and their impact on group members. We will also deal with real-time training situations when you as a trainer, need to cope with specific group behaviours. What are the interventions you can use in order to enhance wellbeing of the group and to maximize the effect of learning.
3. Program
In the program part we will focus on principles and basic rules we use, when creating experiential education program – the program dramaturgy. It is the way we put the program parts together in order to achieve chosen learning goals.
We will analyze a play as a crucial part of a program. A play can be a game, an activity, a review part, process we do with a group. It has various aspects that we should pay attention to – theme, goal, principle, rules, form, motivation, surrounding, atmosphere etc.
Afterwards we will go through the common stages of a program preparation.
Specifically:
• needs analysis as a basis for any kind of program;
• theme and goals as a frame for the program scenario;
• experience as a tool to achieve set goals;
• reviews as a tool to reflect on experience and use its outcomes in the daily lives.
4. Employability
We would like to use this training as opportunity for participants to create their own portfolio of skills, knowledge, competencies they have in order to succeed at labour market. In the program there will be special parts, where everyone can reflect on how the discussed topic is present in his / her life. We will also explore possibilities trainers have when they want to sell their portfolio on the market. How to create demand on specific portfolio and how to adjust it in order to meet the needs of client. You will have opportunity to work on real project or training idea and put its part in practice. After the training you should be able create experiential learning program and bring it to the market.
