Summary: I have a dream that one day all municipalities will have youth councils that empower youth to have a say in issues affecting their life. I have a dream that one day local government will make no decisions without collaboration with their youth councils.
Target group: Youth workers, People working directly with local youth councils or interested in setting up a local youth council.
For participants from: Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Sweden.
Group size: 26 participants.
Details:
If you are supporting a youth council in your local community or want to start up a local youth council we want you to join us in Iceland in December to make this dream a reality. The main aim of this training is to bring together youth workers and/or representatives of municipalities that are working directly with youth councils on a local level to learn, inspire and improve our work. Participants will be given a chance present their own local context and get to know different ways of supporting and organizing the work of local youth councils. There will be an opportunity chance to meet individuals working with youth councils in Iceland. Practical tools for youth councils will presented along with secret tricks on how to get local government to listen to youth.
Additionally we will look into Erasmus+: Youth in Action as a tool to support youth participation in local youth councils both within the framework of KA1-Mobility projects and KA3-meetings between young people and decision-makers.
Costs:
This project is financed by the Erasmus+: Youth in Action Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the NAs involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from call to call and country to country. Please contact your Erasmus+: Youth in Action NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
