Details:
Fail Forward is choosing the courage to fail and learn over the comfort of playing small and giving up on your dreams after the first attempt. In this learning activity educators (trainers, facilitators, teachers, coaches,... Anyone holding space for others to learn)will experience what Fail Forward is about and learn how to facilitate Fail Forward with their learners. The general objective this Fail Forward training is to train and empower educators (youth workers, trainers, coaches, teachers,... ) in creating and holding a space in which learners can fail and learn and in facilitating activities that encourage the learners to develop their fail-resilience. Fail-resilience is the ability to get back up after you fail, learn and try again. Fail Forward is NOT about failing as much as you can or being happy when you do! Failing hurts and sucks and we are very aware of that. So this project and training is about bouncing back after you have failed and learning from it and how to create a space as a facilitator where learners can do that.
Objectives
During the training the trainers together with the participants will create a safe, courageous and supportive non-formal and experiential learning environment to:
• Learn what Fail Forward is about;
• Experience what fail-resilience is yourself;
• Practise facilitating Fail Forward both by creating a safe learning environment for it and by using the by us developed tools;
• Reflect and deepen the learning;
• Exchange about the opportunities and challenges there are for each participant to actively use Fail Forward in their professional context;
• Set up the frame so the participants can continue to learn and grow as a Fail Forward facilitator;
• Spread the fire about Fail Forward to support learning within Erasmus+/Youth in Action.
Profile of who you are as participant:
• You are willing to explore Fail Forward as part of your learning journey with real experiences;
• You are ready to take a leap into the unknown and you are willing to trust the process;
• You are courageous and willing to fail for the sake of your own and others learning;
• You are able to be active during the whole duration of the process (preparation before, the course itself and evaluation afterwards).
This is a learning activity in the framework of the Fail Forward strategic partnership so please only apply if you are from Belgium, Iceland, Norway or the UK. We are looking for 5 participants from each country. Others countries are unfortunately not able to participate this time. Other opportunities will come in 2017! You are an educator (youth worker, trainer, facilitator coach, teacher,... ) who is ready to explore Fail Forward in a non-formal and experiential way. You have a sufficient level of English as a working language (no need for specific jargon, just for basic English)
Facilitators
Facilitators of learning are Zoë Holness (UK) and Ann Daniels (Belgium). We are also the authors of Fail Forward, the handbook for life changers, with tools to facilitate Fail Forward. You will discover a lot more about that during this learning activity. Our purpose is being life changers and making Fail Forward part of every learning curriculum out there.
