Details:
Gender stereotypes continue to exist even today at all levels of society and for all age groups, particularly when children come into contact with early gender stereotypes through TV series, advertising, picture books and other education material that some how affect their perception of how male and female should behave. Training Course "A seed to grow" Takes place in Marrakech, Morocco. It will bring together 32 participants from 8 countries: Sweden, Morocco, France, Tunisia, Italy, Spain, Romania and Turkey. The participants will acquire concrete competences on gender based discrimination (what it is, how does it affects young people, what is the situation in North Africa and in Europe), how to address GBD from an intercultural learning perspective and by using the theatre of the oppressed. The goal of the training course is to give youth workers and youth leaders the chance to develop their awareness about gender and LGBT issues, so that they can act as advocate of greater gender equality at their communities by using non-formal learning approach and tools.
Hence, to reach this goal, the objectives of the project are:
1.
Empower and develop the participants `competence in gender mainstre aming and gender based violence;
2. Introduce the concepts and methods of minority and women rights used in youth work promoting women participation from the local level to the national and European level;
3. Promote different approaches to intercultural learning and gender based violence related with participants’ experiences;
4. Develop practical approaches and methods for translating gender equality, gender based violence and human rights education into youth work practice within the minority communities;
5. Rise the awareness on gender issue and stimulate participants to act as multiplyers in their local communities.
6. Develop follow-up projects with a multiplying effect on youth workers and trainers
Costs:
Accomodation and meals are provided by the hosting organization. The travel costs are reimbursed up to the following limits: Sweden - 530 €; France - 360€; Spain - 275 €; Morocco - 180 €; Romania - 530 €; Turkey - 820 €; Italy - 360 €; Tunisia - 275 €. There's a participation fee of 35 €.
