Theatre of the Oppressed is a worldwide nonviolent aesthetic movement that aims at peace and non-passiveness. The movement grew out of a theatre method that was developed by theatre director and politician of Brazilian origin Augusto Boal in 1960s-1970s. Today the method is spread all over five inhabited continents.
