This training course is part of a long-term strategic project that started in 2016 initiated by SALTO -YOUTH EuroMed, SALTO-YOUTH Training and Cooperation Resource Centres and the Italian and German National Agencies for Erasmus+: Youth in Action. Recognise it! Continue to develop strategies for recognition of youth work! aims to bring together representatives of National and International NGOs from Programme countries and South Mediterranean countries in order to develop strategies to foster recognition of youth work and non-formal learning at national and municipal level. The first new training course will focus on exploring recognition-relevant issues, i.e. (conceptual) terminology in different languages, lobbying, quality of youth work and non-formal learning, evaluation, assessment, learning to learn …. Tailor-made strategy building will be another important focus of the training course, which will include different aspects and needs relevant for participants and national groups (national delegations) taking into account the different socio-political realities within the participants' group. With this training the organisers aim to co-create a space for honest debates about concepts, topics and issues related to recognition. This training course is a starting point for new national strategies developments about the role of non-formal learning and youth work within EuroMed cooperation and will build on the 3-years’ experience of Youthpass in EuroMed youth programmes and critically reflect on future possibilities. Target group for this first activity are representatives of NGOs who act at national level and interested in constructing strategies for recognition of youth work at different levels: political, social and within different groups of reference.
This seminar will contain the following elements:
• Strategy development for recognition of youth work – tailor-made
• Elements about consolidated achievements such as youth work status, non-formal recognition strategies...
• Sharing from different backgrounds about non-formal learning at national level and NGO experiences
• Inputs about specific topics related to non-formal learning (in youth work)
• Empowering NGO’s in investing in the recognition process
• Case studies
Background of the training activity:
In the context of the Recognise it! project a first seminar took place in Jordan in 2016, which focused on gaining knowledge about the situation based on participants’ experience and views and was completed by a mapping exercise based not only on the interviews but also on a literature desk review about the recognition of youth and non-formal learning in South Med countries. These first two steps were very important in order to plan the next strategic steps for the Recognise it! activities planned for 2017/2018. The overall aim of the strategy is to support the development of strategies of recognition of Youth Work at national and municipal level and to strengthen the role of youth work in both dimensions taking into consideration the different socio-political conditions in each country. The main perspective should be the one of NGO’s and their actors.
