What is discrimination and how can it be effectively countered?
That is the guiding question of the two-stage training course Practice Peace. It offers an opportunity to:
• Deepen your understanding of conflict resolution, discrimination and peace;
• Acquire educational tools how to work on and counter discrimination;
• Network and develop own ideas with participants from six different countries.
• The first part (28.10. - 03.11.2017 in Krzyzowa, Poland) consists of a simulation game. The participants immerse themselves in a scenario from the Northern Ireland Conflict and take the role of real-life figures. They acquire an understanding of social, religious and political discrimination and develop strategies how to counter discrimination effectively.
• In the second part (03.02. - 08.02.2018 in Novi Sad, Serbia), participants get to know practical anti-discrimination methods from the Theatre of the Oppressed and learn how apply them in their individual work context. We will actively involve the participants and engage our brains, hearts and bodies. Apart from a simulation game and methods from the Theatre of the Oppressed (Augusto Boal), our methodological approach includes theoretical inputs, discussions, workshops, reflections, best-practice examples, excursions, cooperation games, open space and others. The seminar language will be English. Participants are expected to be able to communicate fluently in English.
