3 - EUROPEAN GRANT – PROPOSAL OF PARTNERSHIP (EN)
GHRD is an international human rights organization with the objective of promoting human rights and human rights education in those areas where severe violations have victimized large populations. If you desire, you can learn more about us on our website: www.ghrd.org
In February 2008, the European Commission published a grant to support projects which promote cooperation in the youth sector between Europe and other countries of the world. The grant aims to promote the exchange of experience and good practice in the youth field, contributing to the development of youth policies and capacity building and sustainable partnerships and networks between youth organizations. GHRD is intrinsically involved in human rights and youth development in South Asia and for this reason is currently in the process of applying for the above-mentioned grant of the European Commission. The opportunity given by the European grant motivated us to conceive an open proposal, addressed to generally support organisations working in the youth sector, based in the regions of Europe and South Asia.

The project proposal we are submitting to the European Commission consists of increasing cooperation in the youth sector between South Asia and Europe.
GHRD intends to bring together youth workers from South Asia and Europe for training, networking, and team-building.
In particular, the programme will aim to:

· Greater youth participation in South Asian organizations in order to include the views and creativity of youth in South Asian approaches to solving Human Rights problems.
· Improved understanding among South Asian youth workers on how the European system can work in their favour and provide them with the tools and ability to directly apply for European grants on their own.
· Established sustainable tools for future cooperation between youth workers and organizations to be more effective in information exchange and future partnerships.

These services will be entirely covered by the project. In order to carry out this ambitious programme, GHRD is searching for organization partners.

The implementation of the project will demand the collaboration of partners to provide participants from your country or region, and to collaborate in the organization of the educational activities.
The project will last at least 10 months and the different phases will be discussed with the selected partners. The cost of the staff of personnel directly involved in these activities will be covered by the project.

The programme will include the participation of relevant representatives to international conferences and focus groups on the situation in South Asia.
The costs of preparation/ participation in these events will be also covered by the project.

The above-proposed program is dependent on approval of the grant application by the European Commission, which is currently in its preliminary stages.

GHRD is anticipating a positive participatory response from your organization in order to continue in the submission of the project proposal.

If the full grant application is approved, GHRD anticipates beginning the activities of the program in December 2008.

We hope to receive an initial positive response from you as soon as possible as the first submission deadline is 15 April 2008, and the application process will request original documents from partners.
