Theme of the training course:
Getting to know the new European Strategy “Investing and Empowering young people” and its influence on our youth work in local and international level with special focus on voluntarism. Based on the European Youth Strategy to foster the quality and quantity of voluntary work and volunteer management among young people.
The overall aim of the training course:
To train youth leaders on volunteer management along the new European Strategy “Investing and Empowering young people”. To learn self – assessment as youth leaders, exploring own personal and professional strengths and weaknesses and how they could become competent leaders of their volunteers. To improve their leadership on preparing, implementing and evaluating voluntary youth projects.
Learning objectives of the training course are:
• To raise awareness on the goals of new European Youth Strategy “Investing and Empowering” with special focus on voluntarism;
• To make self – assessment on leadership competences through Youth workers’ portfolio as a tool;
• To improve competences as leadership, communication, self – esteem, organisation, and management of tools and people;
• To be able to prepare, run and evaluate tools and methods on volunteer activities;
• To create new partner network among volunteer organisations and invent together future projects.
The methodology of the training course:
The training course will be based on non formal education. We will use tools and manuals published by Council of Europe and European Commission, e.g. Youth workers’ portfolio; European Youth Strategy “Investing and Empowering” and Youth in Action programme. The training course will be built on the needs and expectations of our participants, so absolutely learner centred. During our training course, we will improve the leadership competences, communication skills, management and organisational skills and self – esteem as attitude of our participants. Methods we will use are self – assessment, theoretical and practical background, working in small groups, pairs, national and mixed groups, role plays, group building activities, research, creative and interactive methods.
Who can participate in the training course
• YOU are over 18 and there is no upper age limit;
• YOU are interested in voluntary work and in leading voluntary youth projects;
• YOU are ready to take actively part in the whole training course;
• YOU have sufficient support from your organisation for initiating further activities with young people;
• YOU are able to communicate English language. (Not Oxford level, but OK!).
Costs:
The food and accommodation will be provided and paid by the organizers. 70% of travels costs will be reimbursed either by bank transfer after the course or at the end of the course in cash (in Euros €). It may be that money from European Commission will be late; in that case, as mentioned, you will get your reimbursement after the course by bank transfer (be ready for that).
