Aim & Objectives:
The main aim of the training course is to foster youth participation and to promote volunteering among youngsters coming from rural areas and disadvantaged geographical regions.
Specific Objectives:
• To develop a common understanding of participation and explore instruments for its promotion among groups of young people with fewer opportunities in civil society;
• To develop the participants’ understanding of the key principles of youth participation and volunteering;
• To encourage volunteering among the young people;
• To encourage exchange of good practices on creation and management of youth participation projects;
• To improve participants’ skills in project-management related to participation and volunteering projects;
• To propose new tools, approaches and develop ideas for following up projects on youth active participation;
• To identify ways to further develop youth participation and volunteering in Europe;
• To empower youngsters with fewer opportunities to act as multipliers in the fields of volunteering and youth participation in their local communities.
Main approach
The programme of the training course, based on the specific needs of the participants and their organizations, will be conducted by using an interactive and highly participative approach. The working process will be carried out through learning from each other’s experiences, learning by doing and the exchange of good practices. The team of trainers will create a safe learning environment in order to support the participants in their personal and professional development. Participants' experiences in the fields of youth participation and volunteering, particularly on local and regional level, will be considered and used as resources for the development of the learning process. Participants will be invited to share good practices, to exchange useful information, to work intensively and to improve their project management skills related to participation and volunteering projects. Active participation and teamwork, as well as theoretical inputs from the trainers will be essential elements of the training programme. During the course the participants will be encouraged to act as multipliers of principles of youth participation and volunteering by initiating activities within their local communities. They will be prepared to apply further the acquired competences within their organizations.
Costs:
Travel expenses and visa costs (on presentation of the relevant receipts) are reimbursed according to the rules of the Youth in Action Program. The travel costs are covered with 70%, and 100 % of visa fees. Only participants who have attended the entire training course can be reimbursed. The reimbursement will be made either by bank transfer after the course. Board, lodging, local transports are provided by the organizers. A participation fee of 40€ is payable by each participant.
