The project ”My Interpreter - My Power” is a training in Poland. The participants of the project should be active interpreters of sign language(s), associated in professional organisations, including both hearing and Deaf, men and women, working mainly in contact with young people and in the international settings. The theme of the Project is the exchange of experiences related with interpreting situations, examination of the existing codes of ethics of particular interpreter associations, and developing a code of ethics designed specifically for interpreters working in international settings. The Deaf and hearing participants will be supervised by two coaches – a Deaf and a hearing one. This will help to include the perspective of both hearing and Deaf interpreters in the creation of the code. The goal of the project is developing the international code of ethics, which will practically affect the quality of interpreters’ work with the deaf youth in the international settings. Professionalization of interpreting is vital for introducing young recipients of interpreting services in social life. Without it they are socially marginalised. The methods of work include discussions, examination of the participants’ materials, role-plays and search for adequate solutions. The project includes also a lot of “icebreaking” exercises aimed at integrating its participants.
Effects:
• increasing the interpreters’ awareness of the cultural aspects of interpreting and the importance and specifics of the ethical behaviours in the international settings;
• intercultural exchange of professional experiences;
• developing a code aimed at supporting interpreters in the international settings;
• propagating the code in the participants countries and among other interpreting organisations in Europe.

All costs concerning meals and accommodation as well as the program and materials will be fully covered for the whole duration of the training. Travel costs will be reimbursed 70%, given that participants used cheapest way of travel as well as consider environmental impact of the trip.
