'A Different Viewpoint' is the second step of a multi-measure project developed as an attempt to address problem of youth unemployment through encouraging young people to use entrepreneurial approaches to improve their wellbeing. 'A Different Viewpoint' invites to see unemployment as an opportunity, not as a problem - opportunity for self-development, growth, and generation of new ideas, social innovations or enterprises. With unemployment and uncertainty on the rise, it is important now more than ever before, to build a strong personal brand. Personal branding is the process of clear and consistent communication of your skills and passions. The idea is to be clear about your strengths and let everyone know what your unique problem solving skills are so you stand out as a distinct identity making valuable contributions instead of being invisible among the many employees or service providers.
The course is geared around the:
• self-awareness or connecting with skills, passions, purpose, and experiences that make you unique,
• authentic differentiation or learning to use skills and passions to solve problems in unique ways,
• communication and connection or conveying your unique problem solving abilities in ways that are meaningful, and visible to your target audience.
Such an approach allows participants of the course to start an open and honest critique of themselves using a variety of techniques including work with art and drama tools, creative writing, meditation, self-reflection and evaluation, simulations and personal feedback. For a start, we will discuss the concept and importance of personal branding. After which, you will explore activities that contribute to understanding your inner strengths and weaknesses. Hence from there, the trainers will share with you the different tools for personal branding. Once your personal branding and learning plan will be developed, you will learn to build the skills necessary to gain and maintain employment: making connections and networking, presentation and communication. Course will be concluded with exploring entrepreneurship and volunteering in third sector as options to make a good use of time while unemployed.
Target group:
This training program is designed both for youth workers, coaches and carrier counsellors, and young people who are unemployed or wishing to explore opportunities of self-employment and entrepreneurship.
