The aim of the project "Double Impact - meeting local and global" is to increase the knowledge and experience in terms of meanings, techniques, methodology and practice about the local impact of European projects, especially Youth in Action projects. The training course will take place from the 4th October to the 11th October 2012 near Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The training will take 6 working days. During the training youth leaders, youth workers, trainers and project managers will get to know other organizations dealing with “local impact” in their work, especially in international projects. The main idea of the project is to practice how the “local impact” of international projects can be more visible, more useful for the local communities. That’s why we will organize a “local action” in Cluj-Napoca through which we will interact with the local community. Our "Double Impact" training will be a good opportunity to reflect on the importance of the local dimension in international projects, and on the real impact of international projects at the local level. What remains of a European project in a rural area? Does the perception, the idea of the construction of Europe improve after a project that benefits of the help of local communities? How much, but mostly how is a European project integrated with the local reality that houses the young people, the associations, the institutions, the whole community under the globalization? Must we start from local needs in order to built an European project or should we use a European project to encourage local communities (who sometimes have not even recognized their real needs)? These are just some of the questions we have asked ourselves and hope to discuss at our upcoming training.
The specific objectives of the Double Impact training are to:
• acquire knowledge about the concept and substance of international projects;
• examine the possibility of changing the local environment by international projects;
• establish new international partnerships;
• disseminate knowledge of methods and instruments of international projects also in the local context;
• increase knowledge and use of assets and methodologies "outdoor" to encourage greater integration with the local community;
• promote the exchange of experiences and best practices of local and international projects;
• learn new methods, techniques and practices in the analysis of needs and project design.
The methodological approach and all the activities of the training are under the concept of non formal education. We’ll use workshops, open space, word café, fishbowl, creative presentations and outdoor activities. Who will be able to use the new skills they learn and use the contacts they will make in their future work with international and local youth projects.
