Details:
His is a training course for youth workers, youth project managers and volunteers that will introduce them to the contexts, forms and tools of social media. Main aim of this course is to equip learners with the knowledge, critical thinking ability, and practical skills they need to improve the effectiveness of their work and meet the personal, professional, and civic challenges posed by social media.
Social media and other emerging communication technologies can connect millions of voices to increase the timely dissemination and impact of information, leverage audience networks to facilitate information sharing, expand reach to include broader, more diverse audiences, personalize and reinforce social and environmental messages, facilitate interactive communication, connection and public engagement and empower people. Social media are also important part of life of young people, thus youth workers and organizations should move to the place where their target groups are and learn to use new technologies for good of their communities. Training will help organizations to optimize their communication and interaction with target groups. Training is fully based around the principle of learning-by-doing. Participants will complete a series of exercises designed to discover the answers by themselves and then put into practice what they've learnt. Each thematic module includes interactive sessions that introduce participants to social media concepts and tools and serve as the foundation for the practical activities and case studies. Participants then move on to work with a set of hands-on tasks designed around realistic scenarios, which provide practical experience of using social media tools in a context that simulates real work environments. Collaborative work is another core element of the course. Participants will engage in peer-reviews and discussion groups. Creative writing and thinking techniques will help to look for innovative solutions, team-builders and energizers will ensure positive, open and safe atmosphere.
Costs:
Host organization will cover international participants' costs considering traveling to Georgia, accommodation and meals during the activity. The participants are entitled to acquire a travel insurance. The selected participants will get an email which explains them how to book the tickets and when and where to arrive. Travel will be covered 70% of total costs (after approval of travel arrangements by organizers) during the project dates. Visa costs will be covered 100%. Local trips may need to be covered from own resources. Host organization will make the final selection of participants according to the availability of places.
