What is Eurocity Training Course

The EuroCity is a training course which addresses:
Citizenship; Active participation; Youth work; Human rights; Globalization.
Training course will be adapted in a simulation which will be going on during the course. Training will set up in a city which is named Euro. Trainers’ team will be moderator for the activities of everyday. During the course each day trainers will organize some simulations related to the topics, and participants will be living in the city and organizing activities as citizens of Euro city. Training will be an effective practice on experiential learning.
Aims and Objectives
• To discuss youth approach on global issues, such as sustainable development;
• To analyze the youth policy on national and European level;
• To share experiences on youth work in different countries;
• To evaluate YiA Programme and create a set of recommendations to whom it may concern;
• To deepen the understanding active participation &how to live it as a way of life;
• To raise awareness on European citizenship;
• To build partnerships for 1.3 projects;
• To develop quality projects;
• To learn useful methods/tools to encourage youngsters for active participation and European citizenship;
• To understand the concept of living democracy on individual level.
Approach and Methodology
In conjunction with the topic of this course – European Citizenship – this determines that the learning process will:
• be based on intrinsic motivation of the learner;
• be learner–centered and based on the experience of the participants;
• be based on a personal responsibility for learning, supported by a strong group dimension and collective approach;
• enable participants to apply and transfer what they have learned to their youth work Practice and social life;
- Course will be in a small environmental habitat. During the course participants will be in a simulation. Euro city is a global city with many social problems and metaphors. The participants will try to solve and analyse different problems and involve in social life and do changes. Trainers will be moderator of the city. City will have a mechanism such as city council, city court, NGO’s and etc... All participants will have a role in social life and each day trainers will point out different themes related to the course programme;
- take into account the needs and motivation of participants and be open to regular feedback and evaluations.”
In the setting, the group process, the content and the methodology of the training activities, the focus is put on participation, active involvement, sharing of thoughts and feelings, learning by doing, group work and the intercultural dimension. Creativity & variety of the methods are important in our approach. Main methodologies are learning by experiencing, intercultural communication, reflective approach and the educational approach. The intercultural setting is an overall educational approach during the training as working/living/leasure experience.
Used Methods and Techniques
A range of methods are used such as: interaction, task-orientated, cooperation, games and reviewing methods. Training will be based on two parts, namely simulation and debriefing / information parts. The trainers will create a city and participants will be citizens and they will create the rules, construct the youth system and rights of the city. Trainers will give different instructions in every day to the participants. On the second part trainers will take debrief of the simulation and provide information.
Costs:
This project is financed by the Youth in Action Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the NAs or SALTO involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from call to call and country to country. Please contact your NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses. If you come from a country other than Programme Countries, please contact the host NA for further information about the financial details.
