Summary:
The event is designed as a collaborative laboratory to share and experience learning methods, tools, processes. It is dedicated to leaders, coaches, mentors and trainers in YiA projects willing to improve their role as youth learning facilitators.
Target group: Trainers, Youth leaders, EVS mentors/tutors, Coaches.
For participants from: Eastern Europe and Caucasus, South-East Europe, Youth in Action Programme Countries.
Group size: 60 youth workers (15 leaders, 15 coaches, 15 mentors and 15 trainers) participants.

Do you have experience as a leader, coach, mentor, trainer of facilitator in Youth in Action projects? Do you have a method that worked when you facilitated the learning process of the young people? Are you willing to share it and take advantage of similar experiences in order to be even better in your youth work? If the answer is yes... we might have the right event for you!
What (in a nutshell)?
A “lab” event based on sharing and experimenting methods that have the power to improve the learning process of young people.
Who?
Youth workers acting as learning facilitators in Youth in Action projects (leaders, coaches, mentors and trainers).
More precisely, 60 experienced youth workers with the following profile:
- 15 leaders in Youth Exchanges (1.1 and 3.1.a),
- 15 coaches in Youth Initiatives (1.2),
- 15 mentors for European Voluntary Service and
- 15 trainers from Training and Networks (3.1b and 4.3).
6 places will be reserved for participants from the Neighboring Countries.
This event is based on collaborative participation principles. Therefore it is expected that the participants are experienced leaders, coaches, mentors or trainers in Youth in Action projects. The participants will have the leading role both as learners during the event as well as in sharing learning experiences to the rest of the group. It is expected from the selected participants to propose and facilitate workshops during the event. One of the main selection criteria will be the added value of the experience, tool or method the applicant is willing to share with the rest of the group. Therefore participants proposing to share tool and methods or to run workshops will have priority in selection.
Why?
To develop the competences of the leaders, coaches, mentors and trainers as learning facilitators for young people through their particular roles.
How?
In two words... BY SHARING! In a participatory manner where topics and methods are proposed by the participants through a facilitated self-managed process.
What (extended version)?
This is not training, but rather a learning happening! The agenda is to be built around the needs of the participants through a facilitated process based on their proposals (see the “who” section). Participatory activities proposed and managed by participants aiming to share knowledge, experiences, methodologies and tools in order to increase the quality of the leadership, coaching, mentoring ant training. The focus will be on those activities facilitate the learning process of the young people and develop their competencies.
The program will be dedicated to the following types of activities:
• building up common understanding and share good practices regarding the learning facilitator role or the leaders, coaches, mentors and trainers;
• sharing practical activities, tools and methods which can be effectively used as learning facilitators.
The results of the sessions will be published online during the event in order to be used by any other interested youth workers.
