Aims
• To empower young people with African Background to improve their understanding of the role of media in Social inclusion;
• To equip for the young people on strategy for media & inclusion of youth;
• To put the spotlight on the issue’s of interests to Youth Africa Diaspora to a global audience by coming out with a simple and short documentary of 3 minutes paying attention on social inclusion and their community (with the support of journalists and expert in social issues) in order to show and encourage the young people and their organization to create a project based in their local area to make their voice heard and to be developed in networks (by participants and their NGO) in the follow up of the seminar.
Objectives of the seminar
• To build up a common knowledge of the importance of media & Social inclusion;
• To provide young people with less experiences, opportunities and abilities to meet young people from different parts of Europe with other cultural backgrounds and sharing experiences in the context of media, Social inclusion, and empowerment of Youth;
• To train youth leaders about strategy construction for the role of media in social inclusion by equipping them and providing bases of support, skills and concrete and practical tools to use media in order spread their own image of that African Diaspora in Europe (difabilities: Our disability could really turn into our special ability);
• To give more information and tools to the youth as way to help in the national and international projects for local communities;
• To make young people gain confidence about this issue and provide bases to approach and initiate a dialogue about Media & social exclusion problems;
• To show the interest of young people in this thematic to the governments and local authorities where key recommendations can be use by other youth organizations and institutions and be addressed in other European countries;
• To become a multiplier.
Profile of participants
The participants in this course are representatives of youth organisations and youth groups of African Origin Living in Europe and representatives of National Youth Councils based in the Council of Europe member-states and other youth leaders from mainstream international youth organizations:
Concerning participants and their profile:
• Youth leaders and youth workers from youth organizations working with young African migrants and migrants with African background;
• Youth leaders representatives of National Youth Councils that have the interest to involve Diaspora youth organizations in their platforms;
• Representatives from national and international migrants organizations that also develop work with young African migrants and migrants with African background;
• Age between 18 and 35 years old (limitation due to funding partner, the European Youth Foundation).
• Be able to work and communicate in English.
The participants will be selected by the organizers based on the expected participant profile and the profile of the nominating organization. The organizers will insure that gender balance is guaranteed. The participants will also be selected aiming to diversity in terms of geographical distribution of the participants. The Seminar is supported by the European Youth Foundation, therefore aims at promote its values, and mission.
Costs:
The Seminar will have a participation fee of 25 € (Twenty five euros), which will be collected upon arrival at the Venue. This project is supported by the EUROPEAN YOUTH FOUNDATION of the Council of Europe. Being selected for this course, accommodation will be covered by ADYNE. Participants will have to pay for their own travel and visa expenses. After agreement with the organizers, ADYNE will support to a maximum of 70% of the travel costs. Please contact your organisation to see the possibility of financial support to cover your travel and visa expenses.
