Summary:
Beyond Clashes is aiming to contribute to a more cohesive society by empowering youth workers and trainers with competencies for managing intercultural processes and conflicts in their work in multicultural settings.
Target group: Youth workers, Trainers.
For participants from: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Former Yugoslav Republic of, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, United Kingdom.
Group size: 26 participants
Details:
Main aim of the project is to contribute to a more cohesive society by empowering youth workers and trainers with competencies for managing intercultural processes and conflicts in their work in multicultural settings.
Specific objectives that this project aims to achieve:
• To increase the knowledge of youth workers in Intercultural Learning topics(culture, identity, prejudices, stereotypes, discrimination, communication, clashes, intercultural sensitivity);
• To develop practical skills in managing intercultural clashes that occur in youth work (international volunteering, exchanges, local projects in multicultural settings, trainings, etc).
• To develop cultural sensitive attitudes in youth field;
• To empower youth workers to act as multipliers in Intercultural Learning;
• To develop practical skills in intercultural education and “awareness making” in their own communities;
• To encourage participation of young people in social process.
During the training course, participants will be provided with a space and methodological frame to analyze deeper culture and intercultural related topics and dynamics, to understand the features and characteristics of an intercultural clash and conflict, as well as to develop skills for managing it through different methods, for upgrading it to a healthy intercultural learning outcome which will lead to a more tolerant and cohesive society.
The training is aimed at youth workers /coordinators/facilitators/ trainers(no age limit) that have:
• experience in leading international projects and/or working in multicultural communities;
• need to develop competencies in dealing with intercultural clashes;
• experience in leading intercultural education/learning activities (could be an advantage)
• at least intermediate level of English language (in order to be able to participate in the discussions and training activities);
Costs:
This project is funded by the Youth in Action Programme. According to its rules, all costs of board and logging will be covered by the organisers. In addition, the Youth Dialogue Programme is going to reimburse 70% of the participants’ travel costs, upon the receipt of all original tickets and invoices.
