Details:
The aim of this seminar is to explore and develop tools for addressing youth unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship among young people. Ever rising unemployment figures is making today's job market a tough place for young people, especially those coming from backgrounds of fewer opportunities and academic underachievement. Using our own experience and tools such as the Youth in Action programme, how can we as youth workers, volunteers and social workers help young people to take the initiative in turning their situations around? This project provides an educational platform using a range of practical examples that can benefit young people and youth workers.
The main expected outcomes of the seminar are:
• Increased competences of youth workers and youth leaders (in England, Scotland, Wales and NI) in addressing youth unemployment;
• Increased capacity of UK youth organisations and youth groups in creating initiatives and projects to combat youth unemployment and promote entrepreneurship;
• Increased awareness of the opportunities offered by the YiA Programme to UK young people;
• Increased quality of youth projects, including local projects and European initiatives both within Youth in Action and outside it;
• New partnerships and cooperation among participating organisations/youth groups.
