Summary:
The main idea of the One 2 One training course is to empower youth workers - and equip them with the competences needed - to work individually with young people in order to support their learning processes.
Target group: Youth workers, Trainers, Youth leaders, EVS mentors/tutors, Coaches of Youth Initiative projects.
For participants from: Neighbouring Partner Countries, Youth in Action Programme Countries.
Group size: 24 participants
Details:
In several areas of the Youth in Action programme, European youth workers and trainers are increasingly required to be able not only to organise exchanges and work with groups of young people but also to accompany individual young people through the various learning and personal development processes offered within the programme. This is true in both long-term actions (e.g. EVS, Youth Initiatives), but also in short-term projects like Youth Exchanges and training activities - not to mention accompanying the Youthpass process. Offering individualised support for learning - as learning coaches - seems also to be one of the development trends of education in general.
The aims and objectives
The general aim of this training course is to develop participants' competences in individual relationships with young people in (international) youth work, in terms of accompanying the learning process.
Within this, we seek:
• To clarify different types of contexts and approaches within individual relationships and the effects of different environments (including virtual ones);
• To explore the topic of 'learning' and try out the different ways to support participants in their learning;
• To explore what 'supporting learning' means within individual relationships;
• To make links between these approaches and the wider picture, e.g. looking at the future of learning;
• To look at the complementarities and differences between learning individually and in groups.
Target group and profile
The course is open for participants who:
• are professional or volunteer youth workers, youth leaders, youth trainers, EVS mentors, Youth Initiative coaches, etc. and who see a need for developing their competences in working individually with young people;
• want to facilitate learning in youth work through One 2 One relationships, for example, in using the Youthpass process;
• are supported by their National Agencies or regional Salto-Youth Resource Centres;
• are older than 18 years old
• are capable of working in English.
In addition to the training course in Bulgaria, and to reinforce the experience of receiving individual support, the participants will be contacted individually on skype by one of the trainers before and after the course.
Costs:
This project is financed by the Youth in Action Programme. For participants selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the National Agencies involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from country to country.
