Summary:
This course will allow participants to reflect, explore and learn more about the field of Cultural Diversity in youth work, begin to understand the qualities needed by young people to live in pluralistic Europe, and how to encourage these qualities.
Target group: Youth workers, Youth leaders.
For participants from: Youth in Action programme Countries.
Group size: 25 participants
Details:
Participants should...

• be 18 years old or older;
• work directly with young people on daily basis;
• work with / interested in working with young people on the topic of Intercultural Competency;
• want to reflect and share experiences on working practices with diverse youth groups;
• have an interest in and be motivated to work on the topic of cultural diversity in the youth field;
• feel confident to express themselves in English about these topics;
• be interested in Youth in Action programme as a tool for working with young people;
• be committed to attend the full duration of the course.
The objectives of this training course are:
• To reflect critically about personal and cultural identity;
• To better understand concepts which related to of the themes/topics of Cultural Diversity (stereotyping, prejudice, inclusion and exclusion etc.);
• To gain a greater understanding of cultural diversity in different local and national realities;
• To develop intercultural skills and competences related to working with topic of diversity;
• To explore the qualities needed by young people to deal with diversity and intercultural encounters in every day life, and how to encourage these;
• To explore ways in which participants and young people can generate (foster/create etc) a more tolerant society;
• To get inspired to carry out future international youth projects through YiA programme and other resource possibilities.
Costs:
The National Agency of UK will cover the cost for accommodation, subsistence and training. The sending National Agencies will cover the travel costs of their participants. NB! Learn about possible participation fee and other relevant rules.
