What?
A 3-day seminar to exchange good practices and experience in the field of local youth policy and to enhance the debate and future cooperation in the field of youth participation.
Why?
Young people active in local youth policy often experience different challenges in their local communities. These issues are faced when dealing with local authorities, especially in decision-making processes, but also when reaching out to the non-formal youth, and because of the lack of legal framework and funding opportunities. The seminar will provide space to discuss these topics and through mutual exchange of practices and ideas find suggestions how to address these issues.
For Whom?
The participants will be young people active in local youth policy (representatives of local youth councils/parliaments, youth offices, youth organizations and non-formal groups) aged 17 – 25 from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Methods
We will use a variety of different non-formal education methods, such as sharing, experiential learning, information and advice, and provide the time, space and opportunity to discover the potential and the value of networking and cooperation for successful partnerships. The process will be guided by a team which has great experience in this topic.
Specific aims and objectives:
• to compare the situation and realities between the countries, especially in terms of cooperation between municipalities and local youth (decision-making processes);
• to understand different realities in terms of local active participation
• to share examples of good practice;
• to enhance the debate and future work on common projects in the field of participation at the local level.
Costs:
This project is financed by the Youth in Action Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the NAs involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from call to call and country to country. Please contact your National Agency to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
